The Partnership for Agricultural Carbon (PAC) is pleased to welcome new members and observers joining forces to support high-integrity carbon finance for sustainable agriculture across the Global South.
New members include:
- Climate Action Reserve (CAR), who’s membership strengthens the Partnership’s commitment to environmental integrity and transparency, having recently received ICVCM Core Carbon Principle (CCP) approval for two agriculture carbon crediting methodologies.
- The Environmental Leadership & Training Initiative (ELTI) at Yale University, who join as a vital knowledge partner to build on PAC’s strong science-based grounding.
- Amazon Investor Coalition (AIC), joining as a strategic investment-oriented partner, reinforcing PAC’s mission to mobilize capital for sustainable agriculture and climate solutions. Their inclusion signals growing trust in PAC’s model to bridge investment with impact across the region.
New observers include:
- The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM), who will contribute technical expertise and strategic alignment to ensure PAC’s capacity-building and technical assistance offer remains effective, inclusive, and deeply rooted in countries’ sustainable development agendas.
These new partners complement and reinforce the expertise of PAC’s founding members—including IICA, VCMI, AAPRESID, GPS, Verra, Gold Standard, Rabobank ACORN, Michigan State University, Climate Focus, and others—bringing vital perspectives and tools to a fast-growing initiative.
Together, PAC partners are working to:
- Unlock climate finance for sustainable agriculture practices through both voluntary and compliance carbon markets, including under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement;
- Support governments in developing national strategies, methodologies, and safeguards conducive to mobilizing investment through high integrity carbon markets;
- Equip ministries, producer organizations, and smallholder farmers with technical assistance that is science-based, transparent, accessible, and aligned with national priorities.
As countries across the globe increasingly seek to align agriculture with national climate finance strategies, PAC offers a collaborative platform to support sovereign engagement and enable access to Paris-aligned high-integrity carbon markets consistent with the ICVCM’s Core Carbon Principles.
PAC’s recent publications—including the Investment Readiness Index (IRI) case studies and the recently launched training course for policymakers (EN – SP) —reflect our commitment to practical tools that bridge ambition and implementation. Learn more here.
Executive Director of the Partnership for Agricultural Carbon, Daniel Ortega commented “We are extremely excited about this growing coalition and look forward to scaling our support for highly-resilient, climate-smart agricultural practices in the region and globally”.
